Dear Saint Benedict/ Saint Francis Xavier Parishioners:

As we continue to grapple with the evolving situation of COVID – 19, the coronavirus,

Archbishop Cordileone has given dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass to:

  • Those fearing of contracting the virus in a large public gathering.
  • Those whose condition of health makes them especially vulnerable to infection by the COVID-19 virus.
  • People who are already ill.

The Archbishop explicitly mentions: One might also take into consideration the fact that, since the virus has a long incubation period and it is possible to be infected for many days without knowing, it could be considered an act of charity toward others to refrain from church attendance, especially if one is aware of having been in a situation where exposure to the virus could have easily happened.

Please note: The parish office is closed until Tuesday, March 31st.

Updates from the Archdiocese of San Francisco and San Francisco Health Officer are available at:

Thank you for your continued prayers, patience, and understanding during this unprecedented time.
